Wolves and Atletico Madrid are in talks over the transfer of Matheus Cunha and Felipe. The talks between the two clubs are at an early stage right now, for a transfer in the January transfer window. But, they are serious since both parties are keen to get the deal over the line.

The former La Liga champions will have to trim their squad since they will not receive as much revenue this season. Early elimination from the Champions League is one of the main reasons behind their decision to offload members of the squad.

Matheus Cunha and Felipe linked with Wolves switch

Matheus Cunha made 11 appearances for the Rojiblancos this season, and won the 2020 Olympics with Brazil. He was offered to Premier League clubs like Everton, Aston Villa, Leeds United and Manchester United recently. But, a transfer didn’t go through for the forward.

Wolves and Atletico Madrid are in talks for Felipe, not just Matheus Cunha. It’s a potential ‘package’ to include two players in the deal. 🚨🟠 #transfers

But now, considering that Atletico Madrid are in a position where they will have to trim the squad, a move away looks likely. Wolves have struggled with injuries up front, and with Diego Costa not performing as expected, a new striker looks like a luxurious option for them to try and survive the drop.

Felipe could join the Midlands club as part of a double deal. The 33-year-old joined from Porto in 2019, and was a part of the squad that won the league title a couple of years ago.

He has made only two appearances for the Spanish side this season, and has a contract that runs out in 2023. As a result, it is likely that Atleti will cash in on him during the winter transfer window instead of losing him on a free at the end of the campaign.
