Portugal started their 2022 World Cup campaign with a dramatic 3-2 win over Ghana. The game was up for grabs right up until the final whistle, and the African team will be feeling disappointed since they could have picked up a late point.
Cristiano Ronaldo became the only player to score in five consecutive World Cups, after scoring from the penalty spot. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner extended his international goalscoring tally to 118, after striking a powerful shot to beat the keeper.

However, only minutes later, Andre Ayew was able to equalise with a tap-in from close range. Portugal were able to get the lead once more through Joao Felix, before Rafael Leao made it three for the team with a perfectly placed finished from the left side.
But there was still more drama to come, with Osman Bukari making it 3-2. At the very end of the game, Inaki Williams placed himself behind Diogo Jota, who didn’t see the striker. The goalkeeper didn’t see Williams, who pounced on the ball as soon as it was on the ground. Ruben Dias and Danilo Pereira were able to help the goalkeeper out, and ultimately kept out a third goal that would’ve drawn the game.
