Arsenal will be spending Christmas at the top of the Premier League table, on the back of the best start to a Premier League campaign in their entire history. The North London side picked up a 2-0 win against Wolves to go five points clear of Manchester City, who lost against Brentford at home.
Martin Odegaard scored a brace in the final game for the table toppers ahead of the World Cup. The Norwegian called for a stronger challenge on the other side of the break, suggesting that the team has their sights set on nothing less than the league title this year.
Arsenal move five points clear of Manchester City
The Premier League title race has been a two club race for the last several years. While people were expecting Liverpool to be the other club alongside Manchester City, as has been the case recently, it is Arsenal who have stepped up big time.
They have the youngest squad in the Premier League, and are displaying the hunger and desire to win that most of the other teams are lacking. Credit must also be given to Mikel Arteta for completely rebuilding the team into title contenders within a few years only.
The team’s momentum will be stopped after the break, and they will have to start again. However, the way Arteta has set up the teams, it shouldn’t be very hard for the side to get going again.
