Xavi Hernandez has managed Barcelona for 50 games now, and a rather disappointing start emerges from his time in charge so far.

The former midfielder has the lowest points per game average of any manager since Pep Guardiola left the club. His current points per game ratio is 1.9, while the most successful manager since Guardiola left the club is Luis Enrique, with an average of 2.41 points per game.

Ronald Koeman, the man that Xavi replaced as the manager of Barcelona, had a points per game ratio of 1.96. The Dutchman was in charge of the first team for 67 games before being relieved of his duties.

Last season, Xavi had to guide Barcelona in the Europa League and to a Champions League finish in La Liga. This time, his team is on the verge of dropping down to the Europa League again – despite the acquisition of a lot of great new players.

In La Liga, Barcelona are currently second in the table, having lost El Clasico against Real Madrid by a 3-1 scoreline. And as a result, they have been replaced at the top of the table.

With the board fully backing the manager, it remains to be seen how much improvement Xavi can bring to the first team during his time in charge of the club.
