It appears that the speculation that Nvidia would update the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is accurate. Nvidia’s unreleased GeForce RTX 3060 Ti with enhanced GDDR6X memory has been listed by UK shop Scan Computers (via VideoCardz).
The first GeForce RTX 3060 Ti model was released by Nvidia in 2020, but a second model was unveiled earlier this year. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti made use of the GA104 silicon, whereas the unofficially named GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GA103 utilised the GA103 silicon. Since the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GA103 maintained the same exact specifications as the vanilla variant, Nvidia had to replace dies. The memory subsystem has undergone a significant update with the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X.
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X is humorous because Nvidia U.K. hasn’t yet included it to the website. The chipmaker continues to list the standard GeForce RTX 3060 Ti. By placing the GA104-based graphics card in your basket, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X replaces the previous model. The updated version is reportedly sold by Scan Computers, but it isn’t listed on the U.K. store’s website either. However, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X is available for purchase and lets you check out.
It is unknown if the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X uses the GA104 or GA103 silicon. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X with a 1,410 MHz base clock and 1,670 MHz boost clock is displayed in the buying cart. The boost frequency is 5 MHz higher than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, while the base clock is the same. Since the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X still achieves a maximum FP32 performance of 16.2 TFLOPs, it is not a major concern.
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X both have an 8GB memory limit.
A 256-bit memory bus is still adhered to by both variants. However, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X has quicker memory. In comparison to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X, which boasts 19 Gbps GDDR6X, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti has 14 Gbps GDDR6. The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X will have a huge 36% faster memory bandwidth thanks to the additional horsepower, reaching 608 GBps.
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X model likely has a higher rating than the GeForce RTX 3060 and GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GA103 models, which both stick to a 200W TDP. In comparison to GDDR6, GDDR6X uses less power per transferred bit. Despite this, because GDDR6X operates at a higher frequency, its total power consumption is higher.
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X is listed by Nvidia U.K. for £369, which is equivalent to $409. It is even more affordable than some custom models. The $399 MSRP of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is only $10 more expensive than the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GDDR6X. It’s encouraging to see that the GDDR6X premium only resulted in a 3% pricing increase.
