Only three years after being opened, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be set for a multi-million pound upgrade. Since being opened, the retractable pitch technology has undergone significant changes. And after spending around £1 billion to open their new ground, the management could improve their facilities to host a wider array of events.
Spurs’ Stadium is the only NFL ground outside America, and it has a state-of-the-art grass surface in three sections. These can be rolled back to reveal artificial grass that can be used for the NFL games. This Sunday, New York Giants and Green Bay Packers will be playing at the stadium.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be set for major upgrade
The process of retracting the pitch takes 48 hours. And with Tottenham, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt expected to train at the ground before their Champions League game, there is little margin for error.
The new technology would allow the entire process to go through much faster. And as a result, they could host other events comfortably as well.
Right now, no such plans have been sanctioned for the upgrades to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Upon further examination, if the process can indeed be made quicker, it will go through and will allow the stadium to host games beyond football and NFL.
