Graham Potter is expected to try and work things out with Romelu Lukaku over a return to Chelsea. The new head coach of the club is not ruling out the idea of Lukaku returning to Chelsea and being reintegrated into the line-up.
The likelihood of that happening is very small. Especially considering the way the Belgian spoke out about Chelsea before leaving the club, and after. He is not a fan favourite to say the least, and would probably not be welcomed back in any capacity.
Romelu Lukaku could still return to Chelsea under Graham Potter
For the 22/23 season, the Belgian is on loan at Inter Milan, his former club. There is no option to make the transfer permanent, but the two clubs are trying to find a solution that suits them both.
But, there are several challenges towards that happening. The striker will be 30 years old next season, which will deprecate his value even further. And due to Inter Milan’s difficult financial position, they will probably not be able to afford the valuation that the Premier League want.
Which means that a compromise, a player plus cash deal, or another loan could be one of the only solutions. However, considering Graham Potter’s intentions, it would be foolish to completely rule out a return to Stamford Bridge for the forward.
