As its most recent annual GPU release, Nvidia had just unveiled the GeForce RTX 4000 series of graphics cards. These cards were eagerly anticipated all throughout the world and offer a lot of upgrades over the previous generation. However, due to significant internet outcry, the price of these new GPUs in India has now been lowered.
Team Green revealed the prices for its two top-tier GPUs, the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, shortly after making the RTX 4000 series official. The most expensive RTX 4090 retailed for a staggering 177,000 INR (about 2,190 USD), while the RTX 4080 is priced at 133,000 INR for the 16GB VRAM model and 99,500 INR (about 1,230 USD) for the 12GB VRAM variation. However, this price disclosure put the corporation in India’s crosshairs.
The Nvidia received criticism on several social media sites as a result of the astronomical price tag.
The price differential between the new graphics card in India and the US market was much bigger, which was the main cause of the backlash. When the different taxes and import duties were taken into consideration, this was even more unexpected. For instance, the RTX 4080 sells for 1,199 US Dollars and the RTX 4090 for merely 1,599 US Dollars, respectively.
This essentially meant that there was a price increase of about 600 US Dollars between the two locations, which is equivalent to a brand-new graphics card on its own. Nvidia has officially lowered the pricing for the RTX 40 series down to 155,000 INR (approximately 1,915 US Dollars) for the RTX 4090, while the 16GB RTX 4080 costs 116,000 INR (about 1,433 US Dollars) and the 12GB variant is now priced at 87,000 INR. It appears that the reaction actually had an impact (roughly 1,075 US Dollars).
