3 Champions League records that were set in one night – Sept 14 review

The Champions League saw several key records being set last night, with Lionel Messi, Pep Guardiola and Jude Bellingham the notable names.

Here are the three major records that were set last night:

Pep Guardiola manages 150th Champions League game

The Manchester City manager took charge of his 150th Champions League game last night. He has now become the fifth manager to reach the milestone, and is third in terms of the most wins in the competition.

The Catalonian’s 150th UCL game ended in a win against Borussia Dortmund, with Erling Haaland and John Stones scoring wonder goals to give City the win.

Lionel Messi scored against 39th different club

With his goal against Maccabi Haifa in the 37th minute, Lionel Messi became the only player in history to score against 39 clubs in the Champions League, overtaking rival Cristiano Ronaldo at 38.

The Argentine has assumed more of a playmaking role at PSG, but reminded the world that he can still find the back of the net when opportunity presents itself.

Jude Bellingham – the highest scoring English teenager

With his headed goal against Manchester City, Bellingham became the highest scoring English teenager in the Champions League, overtaking Phil Foden who had scored four.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder is highly rated as one of the top youngsters in the world, and had a great display against Manchester City even in defeat.
