2022 SAFF Women’s Championships: Groups, Fixtures and all you need to know

FIFA Lifts AIFF Ban, India to host U-17 World Cup

The SAFF Women’s Championships will be hosted in Nepal this year, and it will be the sixth edition of the tournament. India have won the title on each of the last five occasions. As a result they are the favourites to defend their crown and continue their stronghold over the subcontinent. 

The other teams participating in the competition include Nepal (hosts), Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, and Sri Lanka. India are the highest ranked team, at 58.

The seven teams have been divided into two groups of three and four teams respectively. They will face each other once in a round robin format, and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the next round. 

Here are the groups that will be playing against one another: 

Group A: India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Pakistan.

Group B: Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka

The SAFF Women’s Championships matches will be played at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, which has a capacity of 25,000. 

Here are the fixtures that will be played between sixth and 19th September 2022:

Bhutan vs Nepal

7 September 2022

India vs Pakistan

Bangladesh vs Maldives

9 September 2022

Sri Lanka vs Bhutan

10 September 2022

Pakistan vs Bangladesh

Maldives vs India

12 September 2022

Nepal vs Sri Lanka

13 September 2022

Maldives vs Pakistan

India vs Bangladesh

16 September 2022

Semi-final 1: Champion Group A v Runner-up Group B

Semi-final 2: Champion Group B v Runner-up Group A

19 September 2022

Final: Winner SF1 v Winner SF2
