With days, more leaks of these Matisse refresh processors are surfacing, telling more details about the specs and performance of these CPUs. Again the proficient leaker @_rogame has spotted the alleged Ryzen 7 3800XT in 3DMark Time Spy benchmarks.
This new 8 core CPU is spotted running at 3.9 GHz base clock speed which is strange considering the fact that it should have got a 300 MHz upgrade, and should run at 4.2 GHz as per the previous leaks. Although, the boost clock speed of 4.8 GHz is justified and we see it running at 4.765 GHz boost clock speed.
However, if we compare the Ryzen 7 3800XT’s Time Spy benchmark score with the current Ryzen 7 3800X then there’s just 4.2% increase in performance as the predecessor score 9,950 points on average and the new XT variant scoring 10,373 points. Obviously, these benchmarks do not give us the final results but still fair enough to get an idea of the performance.
The upcoming AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3900XT processors will be the ones to challenge Intel’s new 10th Gen Comet Lake-S desktop CPUs with its higher clock speeds, no IPC gains or such improvements are expected.
These CPUs, which are rumoured to be launched in September, will give AMD to challenge Intel now until the Zen 3 based CPUs arrive by the end of this year.
