OnePlus 8 Pro 5G is yet to launch in India via Amazon.in and will come disabled with the most controversial camera filter option. To be more detailed the camera filter that gave OnePlus 8 Pro 5G the power to see through some materials including clothes.
OnePlus 8 Pro is yet to go on sale in India and as the device is already been reviewed by several YouTubers and this matter has been disclosed in a worldwide platform so OnePlus decided to disable it for Chinese and Indian versions.
It all started when some early adopters found out the colour filter option in the camera app of the OnePlus 8 Pro which can see through some kinds of plastic, glass and even clothes to some extent. This matter then got serious as mostly all the devices of OnePlus 8 Pro were found with the same capability to see through some objects. So on this matter OnePlus has responded and said that the filter will be disabled in all the devices and specifically for Chinese and Indian markets.
OnePlus has said that it’s working on some sort of a fix for the camera, that will reportedly be ready for rollout by June’s end. Reports from XDA-Developers claim that they were able to decompile the OnePlus Camera 4.0.267 app that comes with OxygenOS 10.5.10 and found a property, which disables the color filter camera on model names IN2020 and IN2021, which refer to the Chinese and Indian OnePlus 8 Pro models.
As the OnePlus 8 Pro is yet to go on its first sale, it is still unclear whether the camera filter will be pre-disabled in it or the company will be fixing it with some sort of OTA update. Either way OnePlus will look into this matter that to disable it properly before it comes in wrong hands and gets involved in some objectionble consequences.
The first sale was set on 29th May but got delayed due to some production difficulties due to this pandemic. OnePlus is yet to declare another date for the sale for this OnePlus 8 Pro series. The OnePlus 8 5G will have its next sale on 8th June, 12 Noon onwards.
