Rishi Sunak leads with 101 Votes by Winning Second Ballot in the race for British PM 

The chariot of Indian origin Rishi Sunak is seeming to be unstoppable in the race for British PM as he collected over 101 votes to conquer the second round of the Tory leadership battle. The way he has cemented his grip on their race to defeat current prime minister Boris Johnson to be a conservative party leader.

There are now five candidates left for the Tory leadership who are respectively Trade Minister Penny Mordaunt got 83 votes, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss got 64 votes, former minister Kemi Badenoch with 49 votes, and Tory backbencher Tom Tugendgat got 32 votes to hold on to the ballot in the has narrowing race just after the second round of votes. Another Indian origin Suella Braverman, Attorney General on the fray just knocking odd the shortlist bagging a minimum vote at 27.

After 1922 Committee chair Graham Brady just read the results of the new tally after 356 votes had been cast by Tory MPs in the House of Commons, the 42-year-old Sunak responded he was “incredibly grateful” to the colleagues who wants him. 

He said, “ I’m prepared to give everything I have in service to our nation. Together we can restore trust, rebuild our economy and reunite the country,” There are few rounds of voting left for the  Conservative Party members of Parliament to list down just two by next Thursday that has scheduled for the early next week, 

The entire focus is on how the Braverman and her backers will be able to swing, adding those 27 votes to bear one of the five. 

Earlier in an interview, Sunak said, “I’m convinced that I’m the best person to beat Keir Starmer and secure that election victory,” The British-Indian also has another identity as he is the son-in-law of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy. 

At the end of this week, the Conservative Party headquarters was able to take over to overseas the one member, one vote able to process among Tories countrywide who just have been able to register the party for three months.

Liz Truss made a key policy speech just before the vote on Thursday and claimed to be the one ready to become the prime minister from the first day. 

As the race is continuing, it just has narrowed down take a move of three-way battle just between Sunak, Mordaunt, and Truss, the others are also expected to grow a huge weight behind one of these three campaigns having the hope of securing the good cabinet under a new leader. 

The successor of Johnson come to know by 5th September and just address the first Prime Minister’s Questions of PMQs in Parliament on 7th September.
