Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Ludwig Augustinnson from Sevilla. The player has joined the Birmingham-based club on a loan deal with the option to buy. The total fee for the buy option is around €4.5 million, and can be exercised next summer once the loan spell is complete.
The Sweden international becomes the fifth new signing of the summer for Steven Gerrard’s side. He follows former Sevilla teammate Diego Carlos, who was unveiled as a new signing earlier in the window.
The left-back will be competing with Lucas Digne for game time over the course of the season. Matt Targett moved to Newcastle United in the transfer window, and the Swede will be the replacement in the squad.
Ludwig Augustinnson joins Aston Villa
Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen have made their loan spells permanent, leaving Barcelona and Roma to stay at Villa Park for the long-term. Boubacar Kamara has also been signed by the club as a free agent, following his exit from Marseille in France.
Ludwig Augustinnson has completed the medical for the transfer and has signed the contract as well. Once he obtains the work permit to travel to England, he will be officially presented as a new Villa player.
Sergio Reguilón has been rumoured to return to Sevilla, as the replacement for Augustinnson. The Spaniard has been left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour, and could be headed for an exit.
