Dani Alves could be on the verge of a move to the MLS this summer, with Seattle Sounders and Pumas interested in signing the veteran. The right-back recently left Barcelona after a six month spell.

He played seventeen times for them during this brief return, and was able to help them earn Champions League qualification. However, he has spoken out about the way his departure was handled and is not happy with the way things ended.

Dani Alves ready for next chapter in iconic career

Dani Alves has rejected a proposal from the Seattle Sounders, and is expected to join Pumas UNAM, the same club that Seattle defeated in the final of the CONCACAF Champions League this year. “I didn’t leave sad,” Dani Alves said of his six months at the Camp Nou, which followed a turbulent stint at São Paulo. “I left happy to have returned to Barcelona. I dreamed for five years wanting to live this second moment. The only thing I didn’t like was how my departure was handled.

“Since I arrived, I made it very clear that I wasn’t any more a 20-year-old guy and that I wanted things to be done head-on, without hiding things. But this club has sinned in recent years. Barcelona don’t care about the people who made history for the club. As a culê [Barcelona supporter], I would like Barcelona to do things differently. I’m not talking about myself because my situation was another scenario. I am eternally grateful to Xavi and the president for bringing me back.”

The 39-year-old is keen to play in the World Cup later this year and win the trophy to complete his unmatched trophy list altogether. And for that, regular playing time on the pitch will be important. He could get this with the Sounders, or with a move to Mexico if the right offer arrives.
