Arsenal have officially announced the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City on a permanent deal. The striker has made the move for £45 million, and has signed a contract with the North London side until 2027.
The striker’s move to Arsenal has been a long time in the making, and has now been made official at last. He will be wearing the number 9 shirt during his spell at the club, taking over from Alexandre Lacazette. Following Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Matt Turner, the forward becomes the fourth signing of the summer for Mikel Arteta.
Gabriel Jesus officially signs for Arsenal
The Brazil international has reunited with Mikel Arteta, who was an assistant coach at Manchester City before being appointed as the manager of Arsenal. Here is what he had to say about the new signing:
“I’m very excited. The club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature. I know Gabriel personally very well, and we all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being really successful here.
“This is a position that’s been on our radar for a long time now and we have managed to get a player that we all wanted, so I’m really happy.”
With the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, the team needed a striker capable of leading the line. And now, Arteta has an incredible profile to develop his system around in Gabriel Jesus.
