India face a major setback since Rohit Sharma won’t be a part of the squad for the 5th test against England. As per reports from BCCI, Rohit Sharma will miss the game although the head coach of the team Rahul Dravid stated that there’s no official confirmation.
He was supposed to lead the team but in his absence, Jasprit Bumrah will do the task.
The information about Rohit Sharma’s ruling out came from the team management and the team meeting at the ground from Edgbaston. Apparently, Rohit Sharma has tested positive for Covid 19 that’s going to keep him indoors and restrict him from playing the game.
Indian head coach Rahul Dravid admitted that Rohit Sharma had tested positive in the morning the news of his ruling out hasn’t been officially declared. Hopefully, it will be done soon.
However, the other squad members have been already informed about his non- appearance.
As per sources, Rohit Sharma had tested positive for Covid 19 in the past week which made him miss the last day of the warm-up fixture against Leceister. Right now, he’s under complete isolation and he can come out only after two negative RT-PCR Tests
As per a BCCI official, “Jasprit has been informed about the situation and he is ready to lead. Look, Rishabh is very young and needs to be groomed to lead in Tests. So for now Bumrah is our best bet and will lead India”
India’s facing real hard times recently, since they lost vice-captain KL Rahul to injury and Virat Kohli isn’t in his best form too. Mayank Agarwal will be substituting Rohit Sharma and has already reached Birmingham. Though there is a very less chance that he’ll play since he’s not yet prepared for the Test series.
There’s a probability that KS Bharath or Cheteshwar Pujara will be opening the innings for India with Shubman Gill.
