He made his debut with just a few weeks to go before his 22nd birthday, along with England’s test cricket match count, meaning others hit the mark in the number of plays less. From 2021, he has been scoring a lot of runs once again. He mustered 2192 runs in the last 21 tests at 56.20. England had a pathetic season in Ashes 2021-22 when he averaged just 32.20 in 10 innings. In 21 games, he had an average of one in 2.3 Tests compared to his career average of one in every 4, 5.

Root is also the first among the current Fab Four to get to 10,000 runs. This, as mentioned, is a function of the number of games played in the UK. Kane Williamson played 87 Tests that came out a few years before Root. Since Root’s launch, England played 120 Tests.

Joe Root lowest overseas average of 46.47 and is the second among these four after Steven Smith’s 57.06. Both Williamson and Kohli have poorer records when they’re playing away from home. Root has an average of 52.93 while the other three average more than 60.

Root is in 14th position in terms of overall Test aggregate, but he is on top among active players.
