Hero Vida e-scooter launch postponed due to chip shortage

Hero has had to move the launch of its e-scooter once again, the launch of this upcoming Hero Vida e-scooter has had to be moved to the festive season. The company has been forced to do this due to supply chain constraints and chip shortages. The brand entered the Indian market in March 2022 but it initially moved to launch in July.

Hero Vida to launch in September 2022

Hero Corporation has been faced with many issues ever since it decided to venture into the two-wheeler electric mobility segment. The sub-brand was recently established and assuming no changes happen further, it will launch around September 2022. It is set to coincide with the festive season in India which usually witnesses a stark rise in demand.

There have been multiple projections that lead to the global chip shortage ease by the end of 2022 but the challenges imposed by it are numerous, the brand has stated that due to supply chain constraints, there is a shortage of multiple components that are crucial to electric vehicles such as chips. There have been multiple brands that have been affected due to these issues.

Hero is the world’s largest combustion-powered two-wheeler maker. The company has inked an agreement with Gogoro which includes swappable battery technology transfer. This partnership could manifest itself in the latest Vida EV. There can also be other surprises that we can encounter in terms of the design and capability of the Vida. However, we will have to wait until September to get more information on the e-scooter.
