Last Saturday (7th May), Chelsea FC released a statement on their official website to announce the new owners of the club. Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss are in the group of the new ownership of the club.

The club website claimed, “£2.5bn will be applied to purchase the shares in the Club and such proceeds will be deposited into a frozen UK bank account with the intention to donate 100% to charitable causes as confirmed by Roman Abramovich.”

While the government approval is still pending to complete the transaction, the new owners have also proposed to invest £1.75bn more for the benefit of the club.

That club statement also mentioned that the sale procedure could complete in late May.
