Liverpool have seemingly blown their chances of winning the quadruple, after being held to a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
Antonio Conte’s men were very disciplined in the opening 45 minutes, and didn’t allow Liverpool a clear cut opportunity on goal. Their best effort came through Virgil Van Dijk, who hit the woodwork. The same happened for Spurs, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg hitting the woodwork after a long range effort that beat Alisson.

Heung-min Son opened the scoring for the visitors in the second half, after Ryan Sessegnon pulled back for the forward. The South Korean scored his 20th goal of the season, with none of them coming from penalties.
Luis Diaz was able to score the equaliser for Jurgen Klopp’s men, after his effort took a massive deflection to send Hugo Lloris the wrong way. The Colombian scored his 8th goal of the season since joining the Reds, and has been one of the best January signings in all of Europe.
But Liverpool’s draw means that they have had to drop two points in the title race while Spurs have done the same in the top four race. They are now level with Manchester City in the table, at 83 points. The defending champions can now take a three-point lead if they are able to defeat Newcastle United today. At this stage in the season, it is likely that the dropped points against Spurs have cost Liverpool their chances of completing the quadruple.
