Bournemouth have returned to the Premier League after two years away, following their 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest. They have now confirmed second place in the Championship to secure automatic promotion to the top flight.
The Cherries spent two years in the second division after being relegated in 2019/20, and will now return to the Premier League alongside Fulham, who have won the Championship by scoring 100+ goals.
Bournemouth seal return to Premier League
Kieffer Moore came to the rescue of Scott Parker’s side, scoring a late goal to end hopes of automatic promotion for Nottingham. They will now have to take the longer route and compete in the playoffs to make it back to the top flight.
Moore came off the bench, and struck home from close range with seven minutes remaining on the clock.
For Bournemouth, it is now a question of whether they will be able to perform in the big league. Their top scorer, Dominic Solanke, has struggled to perform in the Premier League before. But this season, he scored a career high 29 goals in the Championship to help his team finish second in the table and secure promotion.
Forest will be hosting the second leg of their playoff fixture alongside Huddersfield, who have been guaranteed playoff spots due to their position in the table. Millwall, Luton Town, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough are in contention to make it to the playoffs as well.
