Arsenal picked up three huge points against Manchester United, winning 3-1 against the Red Devils. They are now in fourth place, and are hopeful of securing a Champions League berth by the end of the season.

Despite Harry Maguire being dropped, some poor defending from Manchester United led to the opening goal. Nuno Tavares tapped the ball in from close range within the opening couple of minutes to give his side the lead.

Shortly after the half hour mark, Arsenal were awarded a penalty to double their lead. Eddie Nketiah put the ball in the back of the net after a scramble between Alex Telles and Bukayo Saka. But, while VAR ruled the original goal offside, it awarded a penalty for the challenge on Saka. The youngster stepped up and converted from the spot to double his side’s lead.

Cristiano Ronaldo would pull one back for the visitors only a few minutes later. The Portugal captain scored a tap-in after he was found in the box by a remarkable cross from Nemanja Matic.

Diogo Dalot hit the post twice during the game, despite taking some very good chances. Bruno Fernandes had the best chance to level things up from the penalty spot after a handball decision. But, the midfielder hit the post and was eventually subbed off for Juan Mata.

Granit Xhaka then scored a rocket to make it 3-1 for the home side, and to fend off all hopes of a comeback from United.
