According to reports, LG is going to unveil the replacement of the “G” series. Few reports even confirm that LG held a product briefing for the three Korean telecoms where it spilled the details on the launch date and the launch is likely to take place on April 15. The reports claim that the South Korean giant has not revealed the exact names of the series and its devices as well. There are several rumors spreading now that the tech giant is going to replace the whole “G” series with this new series.

LG could present a new series on May 15 to replace its G lineup

According to South Korean news outlet Naver News, the new series by LG may feature a Snapdragon 7-series chipset. Other features that are tipped in the unnamed series are dual-screen support, 5G connectivity, quad rear camera setup with 48-megapixel primary camera, and 4,000mAh battery. If rumors about the 5G support are true, it is safe to assume that LG will pack Snapdragon 765 or 765G chipsets since they are the only 7-series chips from Qualcomm to feature a 5G modem.

Though we have not been confirmed about the chipset till now, everything is unclear right now. In order to replace the G series, LG needs to recreate another smartphone with dual-screen and this time with the flagship chipset available to get the 5G connectivity on the other hand. Only Snapdragon 865 SoC has the capability to support 5G at this point and if we see the previous G series specially the dual-screen G8x ThinQ it was featuring the top of the line Snapdragon 855.

So, this time we can hope for the best as the company is thinking to replace the whole series there might be few mid-range and flagships as well. LG’s new phone series will reportedly come with a price tag in the KRW 900,000 ($720-€670) range. LG is going to take another turn in its smartphone marketing strategy and let’s see whether it is going to hit the bull’s eye or not.
