Alyssa Healy had given a brilliant effort to make Australia defeat England by 71 runs to win the ICC Women’s World Cup in Christchurch. The batter opened the innings after Australia decided to bat first and scored 170 in 138 deliveries and helped Australia to muster a mammoth run of 356/5 in 50 overs. On the other hand, England got all out for 285 in 43.4 overs. Spinners Alana King and jess Jonassen stood outperforming for Australia. Both of them picked three wickets each. Natalie Sciver from England still fought the battle after England had a very poor start. England lost Danielle Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont for 4 and 27 runs respectively. Both got bowled out in their early run-chase of 357 runs. heather Knight departed too to Alana King for 26 runs while Amy Jones got dismissed for 20 runs. Sophia Dunkey got dismissed for 23 runs. Katherine Brunt departed for a single run. Alyssa Healy from England scored 170. English skipper’s decision to bowl first was proved wrong. Rachael Haynes and Healy had a partnership of 160 runs for the first wicket. After Haynes departed for 68 runs, Mooney joined Healy and mustered 62 runs. Anya Shrubsole as a pacer registered figures of 3/46 in 10 overs.

An unexpected batting effort from Australia. The Australian openers did have a slow start but scored huge runs in the latter half. It’s time for the Australian team to celebrate their seventh World Cup win.
