While there’s no official statement from Barcelona that the Ivorian footballer, who goes out of contract next summer is joining the Catalans, the club captain Busquets has recently confirmed it from the club’s point of view.
So, indeed the previous report of Franck Kessié joining Barca in a four-year deal seems to be true. Busquets was flattered in his interview with RAC1 as he seems to be happy that his childhood club is making smart signings to help rebuild the team towards glory.
Obviously, the 25 years old midfielder isn’t a player who will replace Busquets but as Xavi has made the signing he would surely have a plan for the emerging talent in the form of Franck Kessié. As De Jong thrives in a double pivot role while his stay at Ajax, Xavi might lean towards playing both of them together to strengthen the defence.
Also, with the signings of a lot of defensive players, we can in fact see a back three in defence then having two strong midfield players will really help Barca. Sergio Busquets also recognized the fact the Ivorian midfielder is a strong guy to be a part of FC Barcelona’s dynamic midfield.
As Joan Laporta and his team are rebuilding Barca, Xavi’s ambitions to challenge for the Champions League doesn’t look to be unachievable next season. However, their main focus this season will still remain to win the Europa League which isn’t hard seeing the form of Barca recently and of course, if Real Madrid makes mistakes, the La Liga title isn’t off the charts as well.
