India was defeated 3-0 by Belarus, concluding their trip abroad with two consecutive defeats, after the 2-1 loss to Bahrain. This was their last game before the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, and they will be hoping that the experience of playing two European sides comes in handy.
Belarus are ranked 10 spots above India in the FIFA rankings and managed to put on a very dominant second-half display to put the visitors to the sword with three goals within the last 45 minutes.
India defeated by Belarus in a dominant fashion
Artyom Bykov opened the scoring for the home side, with a remarkable effort. No one picked up his run, as he received a long ball from his own half. The player did well to bring the ball under control and fired it past Gurpreet Singh with none of the central defenders picking up his run behind them.
Maks Ebong would then help double the lead with a dribble through the Indian half and end his run with a pass to Andrey Solovey. The first minute of injury time saw Belarus make it 3-0 and kill off the game in remarkable fashion.
Igor Stimac put out a heavily rotated side from the last game against Bahrain, and the lack of cohesion was on display yet again. But with the different starting line-up, a lot of players have earned their experience against a more difficult opponent and will be hopeful that they can put on a better performance when it really matters.
