Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is laying out his plans to make it to the final of the 2021-23 ICC World Test Championship that will be played at Lords in 2023.

Under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, India whitewashed Sri Lanka but they are at the fourth position, the major reason being defeated 2-1 against South Africa in January 2022. If India continues to win the next consistent games then surely, they will reach the top of the charts in no time. However, Rohit Sharma plans to focus on one match at a time.

The long-term target is to reach the final of the WTC. But honestly, we cannot look that far ahead as it does not work like that. We need to look into the present, make sure that there are fewer steps to climb to reach that place. For us, reaching those small goals are very important,” – He said

Rohit Sharma acknowledged the loss against South Africa and how it affected the team. He believes that the team is on the right track and under the right guidance they can get back the crucial points. The team definitely has to do a lot of things right in order to make their name on the list. ” We pretty much achieved everything that we wanted as a team (from the Test series against Sri Lanka) and boxes got ticked. I think we are moving in the right direction,”- he said.

Team India has seven matches to play to qualify for the World Test Championship. India will be playing their next Test against England at Birmingham’s Edgbaston in July.

After that, the Men in Blue will play four matches against the Australian team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in October. Following that, India will play the last two matches against Bangladesh in the Ganguly-Durjoy Trophy that is scheduled to take place in Bangladesh this November.
