India put up a dominant display against West Indies in the ICC Women’s World Cup, picking up a win by 155 runs. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur shared the player of the match award, scoring 123 and 109 runs respectively.

Originally, Smriti Mandhana was given the player of the match award, but she decided to share it with her teammate, who also scored a ton. Moreover, Jhulan Goswami picked up her 40th wicket in the Women’s World Cup, which makes her the highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament.

After India’s second win in the tournament, West Indies were fined 40 percent of their match fees for a slow over rate in their match. West Indies pleaded guilty to the allegation, and as a result, there was no need for a hearing.

Stafanie Taylor, captain of West Indies said: “I don’t think we bowled the way we wanted to, did not execute. Gave away too many short balls. I thought Harman and Smriti batted really well. The start they (the openers) gave us was brilliant, it was important for one of them to stay there.”

Alongside a remarkable batting performance from India, they were able to bowl out their opposition as well. West Indies lost all their wickets by the 41st over, and were restricted to half the runs that their opponents put up on the board.

India women will be taking on England women on March 16, in their next challenge of the World Cup.
