The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a T20 competition known for the scores. There have been a total of 38 matches where a team couldn’t even cross 100 runs. In IPL 2021, KKR had hit their rock bottom with just 84 runs in their pocket. There have been similar instances. Let us have a look at them
1. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders 2017, (RCB Score- 49)
In 2017, KKR got bowled out for 131 runs but they had a very strong top-class fast bowling in T20 cricket. RCB only managed to score 49 runs and made the record for scoring the lowest runs in IPL.
2. Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore 2009, (RR Score- 58)
Rajasthan Royals had won the inaugural season in 2008 but had a poor start to the next season. RCB didn’t score a huge total but RCB got bowled out for just 58 runs. Rahul Dravid in that match scored 66 runs from 48 balls and had reached 133 for 8 in 20 overs. RR couldn’t chase this not so huge target.
3. Delhi daredevils vs Mumbai Indians 2017,( Score- 66)
Mumbai had given Delhi Daredevils a total target of 212. Delhi lost wickets very early and lost control over the game as well. It went like 6 for 2, then 20 for 3, then 35 for 5, then 46 for 7 and eventually 66 bowled out. From the MI team, Harbhajan Singh and Karn Sharma took three wickets each.
4. Delhi Daredevils vs Kings XI Punjab 2017, (Score- 67)
Kings XI Punjab captain Glenn Maxwell won the toss and asked Delhi to bat in a match of 2017. Delhi Daredevils (then known as Delhi Capitals) gave a total target of 68 runs. While chasing it, Punjab openers Hashim Amla and Martin Guptill made sure that made sure to complete the runs as soon as possible. Guptill scored 50 runs from 27 balls, while Amla hung around him as Punjab reached the target in 7.5 overs, achieving one of the biggest wins in the league.
5. Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians 2008, (KKR Score- 67)
In the first season, Mumbai Indians had a match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Wankhede stadium. It was a rainy day for KKR, the team kept on losing wickets in regular intervals and reached a total score of 67. It was the lowest of the season. Mumbai Indians on the other hand took 5.3 overs to reach this target. Sanath Jayasuriya himself scored 48 runs in 17 balls.
