ATK Mohun Bagan defeated Bengaluru FC 2-0 in the ISL to keep themselves in the race for the league title. Here are the three talking points from the game.
Winning run extends to 14
The Mariners have been in outstanding form since the arrival of Juan Ferrando at the helm, and they have been unbeaten for their last 14 games in the ISL. The board parted ways with Antonio Habas at a time where it seemed like their season was headed down the wrong path, but the arrival of Ferrando has turned things around for the better.
While Roy Krishna has not played as prominent a part this time, the combined effort of Liston Colaco, Hugo Boumous, Manvir Singh and David Williams has helped carry the team forward.
Manvir and Liston shine in cagey affair
A remarkable free kick goal from the pacey winger was followed by a stunning solo goal from Manvir Singh late in the game to double the lead of the Maroon and Green outfit. Sandesh Jhingan, Tiri and Amrinder Singh also played a big part in keeping a clean sheet against a determined Bengaluru FC.
ATK Mohun Bagan gunning for title while Bengaluru drop out of the race
We saw a dejected Sunil Chhetri at the end of the game, after it was certain that Bengaluru FC had failed to earn a place in the top four. His opponents consoled the Indian skipper, and we saw a great display of sportsmanship on the pitch as a result.
ATK Mohun Bagan are only one point behind Hyderabad FC, but will have to battle it out with Jamshedpur FC, who they are level on points with, in the final game of the season, for the league title.
