India takes a lead in the first T20I against Sri Lanka. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer had started the T20I innings in Lucknow.

Match Highlights

Rohit Sharma and Co. had started the T20I series against Sri Lanka with an attractive figure of victory (62 runs) in the series opener in Lucknow. Ishan Kishan and Shreyash Iyer had played a huge role in helping India pass 199/2 in just 20 overs. Sri Lanka gathered 137/6 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma had a brilliant start and they added 111 runs in the opening wicket. Rohit got out on 44(32) by Lahiru Kumara in the last bowl 12th over after which Shreyas Iyer joined Ishan in batting. Ishan Kishan got dismissed by Sri Lanka’s skipper Dasun Shanaka. He missed a century by 11 runs but still contributed a lot to the team. Iyer remained unbeaten on 57(38) and Jadeja scored 3 runs for 4 balls.

The Sri Lankan player Charith Asalanka was unbeaten on 53 runs for 47 balls. Indian bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Venkatesh Iyer got two wickets each whereas Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal could pick one.

The second T20I will be on February 26 in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma on Thursday became the leading run-scorer in T20 Internationals. Rohit left Martin Guptill and Virat Kohli behind to achieve this milestone. Guptill and Kohli have scored 3299 and 3296 runs respectively in the shortest format of the game. Rohit surpassed Guptill’s number in 115 innings.
