Chennaiyin FC drew 2-2 with Odisha FC in the ISL, with both teams now set up for a mid-table finish in the league. Here are the three talking points from the game.
Rahim Ali dictates the game for Chennaiyin
The winger scored the first goal of the game, opening the scoring after a deflected free kick fell to him. He would then come up with an inch-perfect cross for Nerijus Valskis in the second half. The forward headed the ball from around 12 yards out, and got the much-needed equaliser for Chennaiyin to take a point from the game.
Jonathas sets Odisha FC record
Jonathas became the first Odisha FC player to score in five straight ISL games, with his goal in the second half. The forward smashed the ball into the back of the net after an intense scramble, which saw Debjit Majumder come up with a slew of good saves to deny the opposition.
But ultimately, it was all in vain as the ball fell to Jonathas and he would make no mistake from close range.
Javi Hernandez and Jonathas combine again
With five assists and seven goals this season, Hernandez has been in fine form. He has combined with Jonathas very well in their last few games, despite not being able to get the win. While their chances of getting into the top four are becoming increasingly slim, their attacking duo will be a big strength for them going forward.
