Karim Benzema has been working away from his Real Madrid colleagues in Valdebebas for the past seventeen days after suffering an injury against Elche.

The Clock is Ticking

No.9 has been working on the practice fields and doing some ball work, but he is still not at full strength and will take some time to get there. All of this happens just six days before Real Madrid hosts PSG in the opening leg of their Champions League last-16 encounter.

Real Madrid expects Benzema to rejoin his teammates on Thursday or Friday, and that he could even play a few minutes against Villarreal on Saturday. But, realistically, he’s not likely to play at all this weekend.

Los Blancos had a clear strategy, but as Benzema recovers from his hamstring injury, things haven’t gone as planned. Furthermore, the club is well aware that it could blow up at any time, causing them even more trouble.

Uncertainty concerning Benzema

Real Madrid are now worried about a relapse, and Benzema is perhaps the most important player in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. That Benzema’s hamstring has a slight rupture, and that the club’s medical team has been working on him since January 23. The deadlines are looming, and he is practically certain to miss the Villarreal match.

Benzema’s participation against PSG is also in doubt, with it being unlikely that he would play the whole 90 minutes against the Ligue 1 club. Ferland Mendy, on the other hand, is in a better position. He has resumed full training and will very certainly play against PSG, though he will not be pushed back against Villarreal.
