Bruno Guimaraes is one step away from joining Newcastle United, with a medical scheduled in Belo Horizonte by Magpies director Steve Nixon. The paperwork and final details are all set to be sorted out later today to make the transfer official.
The deal is expected to be worth €40 million guaranteed, and €8 million in add-ons, if Newcastle United are able to avoid relegation to the Championship. The 24-year-old operates as a defensive midfielder and has earned 3 caps for the Brazil national team.
Bruno Guimaraes finally on his way to Newcastle United
Lyon had recently released a statement talking about the fact that Bruno Guimaraes was not expected to leave just as of yet. However, only a few days later, the player is close to leaving the French club and moving to the Premier League.
Bruno Guimaraes will sign a contract until 2026 with the Toons. Only his agent fee remains to be sorted out, and with Nixon at the scene, it is almost inevitable that an agreement will be reached.
The Brazil international has impressed many during his time with the club and is now set to join Newcastle as part of their makeover.
He will be the third major signing for Eddie Howe after the arrival of Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood. This news will also help compensate for the failed transfer for Diego Carlos, after Sevilla rejected a lucrative offer for the Brazilian centre-back.
