Real Madrid are stepping up to sign Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni for the next season. The player has attracted a lot of interest from top clubs in Europe, but Madrid are expected to be favoured ahead of the others.
Juni Calafat, Madrid’s chief scout, is now travelling to Monaco to hold talks about the possibility of a move in the summer. The club has reportedly made Tchouameni their number one priority in midfield, as he is expected to be the heir to Casemiro in the heart of the park.
Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid eventually?
Carlo Ancelotti tried to have Eduardo Camavinga in the base of midfield, but things didn’t go according to plan due to his profile. As a result, a more defensive minded midfielder like Tchouameni would be able to provide the defensive foundation for the team.
Real Madrid were interested in Aurelien Tchouameni in the past, even before he was called up to the France national team. Their efforts to sign the player could have progressed even more smoothly, but they chose to focus on their forwards.
A price tag in the region of €60 million has been quoted for the 22-year-old, and a transfer could materialise in the summer. Real Madrid lead the race due to their interest in him previously.
Aurelien Tchouameni is one of Monaco’s best players, having become one of the first names on the team sheet. His arrival at Real Madrid would bolster their squad even further, and provide a cover for the Kroos, Casemiro and Modric trio that Madrid are still depending on.
