Intel warns against overclocking its non-K Alder Lake CPUs due to damaging issue

According to recent reports, the newest Intel non-K version Alder Lake processors may overclock, which is appealing to enthusiasts for such a low-cost chipset. Overclocking the processor, however, will violate the chip’s warranty and damage both the chip and the computer’s components, according to Intel.

According to recent reports, the newest Intel non-K version Alder Lake processors may overclock, which is appealing to enthusiasts for such a low-cost chipset. Overclocking the processor, however, will violate the chip’s warranty and damage both the chip and the computer’s components, according to Intel.

Last weekend, YouTuber der8auer demonstrated the potential of the overclocking process in the new Intel series of CPUs. He described a BCLK setting that enables the Alder Lake-S chips to function.

Other S series CPUs, such as the Intel Celeron G6900 and i3-12100 chips, were examined by der8auer on Monday.

Before their debut date, the Alder Lake-S series processors were getting a lot of attention and popularity. On Monday, overclocking enthusiast “Phantom K” set a new world record for the Intel Core i3-12300 chip, achieving a frequency of 5441.7 MHz in just over 33 seconds. On Saturday, the overclocking enthusiast released his second video, demonstrating that he could overclock the Celeron processor to 5,338 MHz using ordinary cooling measures, a 57 percent increase.

According to YouTuber der8auer, a large motherboard maker is working on a B660 series board with DDR4 support, implying that the Alder Lake-S series CPUs will have an economical entry point. The ASUS STRIX B660G, ASUS B660F, and ASRock B660 Steel Legend motherboards all have the BCLK function in their BIOS settings. Der8auer solely tested the ASUS ROG Maximus range of motherboards.

Intel’s statement to Tom’s Hardware today explains that:

Intel’s 12th Gen non-K processors were not designed for overclocking. Intel does not warranty the operation of processors beyond their specifications. Altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components and may reduce system stability and performance.

Intel appears to have been alarmed by the chip’s capabilities, but this does not mean that the corporation wants to overclock its new chips to be prohibited. It’s thought that the capability was due to a coding fault in the Alder Lake-S series. The business will provide an upgrade to prevent future motherboard releases from being affected by the existing setting.
