FC Goa defeated Chennaiyin FC 1-0 to earn their third win of the ongoing ISL season. Here are the three talking points from the game.
FC Goa’s turnaround
It took the Goans five games to earn their first three points, and they now have 12 points from 10 games played. To put things into perspective, they are only three points behind fourth placed ATK Mohun Bagan.
So, with the second half of the season yet to play, we could be seeing a massive turnaround from Derrick Pereira’s men.
Chennaiyin FC pass up big chance
Chennaiyin had the chance to break into the top four if they won against FC Goa. A draw would have helped them in the race for a playoff spot as well, but they were outplayed by their opponents.
The losing team only managed one shot on target throughout the game, which goes to show the dominance that their opponents had in the game.
Positives in defeat
Debjit Majumder, the CFC keeper, was the hero for his team. The shotstopper helped keep Jorge Ortiz neutralised for the majority of the game, but was unable to stop him from scoring.
Despite the loss against FC Goa, Chennaiyin FC have positives to take away from the game, such as the brilliance of Majumder. They still have ten games to go in the current season, and have a chance at breaking into the top four, and potentially challenging for the title as well.
