BMW have announced their new M series offering, the iX M60 at this year’s CES. It is set to be released in summer 2022, and will be the second car to feature BMW’s racing inspired M branding.
The ‘M’ stands for Motorsport and was introduced 50 years ago, in 1972. It was expected to support the company’s racing ventures. With progressing modern tech, the company is starting to replace it’s internal combustion engines with electric ones.
Later in 2022, the company will be releasing the i4 electric sedan which will start at $55,000, and will provide up to 300 miles of range.
Specifications of the BMW iX M60
The new electric car is set to be released in the summer of 2022, and will feature two motors. The braking power is marked at 610 horsepower, and the mileage is around 280 miles per charge.
Among the other specs announced by the company are 811 lb-ft of near-instantaneous torque when in Launch Control, 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.6 seconds and the maximum speed will be around 155 mph.
The BMW iX M60 will feature a 111.5kWh battery, 106.3kW of which is usable. It outshines its competitors in this respect, having more available battery power.
The charging time from 10 to 80% will be around 80 minutes through a 25-amp system delivering 50kW of charge. A 250-amp charger at 100kW can reduce that time to 49 minutes.
