Barcelona have signed Spanish international Ferran Torres from Manchester City. Xavi Hernandez sees him as a key man in his attack, so the Blaugranas have signed him for an upfront fee of €55 million.

However, the final fee for the Spanish international could rise to €65 million, following the €10 million add-ons that Barcelona have agreed with Manchester City.

Barcelona are in the midst of financial troubles and La Liga have barred them from signing new players until they sell some of their current players. Last year they were forced to let go of their captain Lionel Messi.

After Xavi’s appointment as the coach, Ferran Torres is the second arrival at the club after Dani Alves. Despite signing the 21-year-old, Barcelona are facing trouble registering him for La Liga.

Ferran Torres, however, is calm about the situation. He said, via Marca: “I’m calm. They’re doing all they can, they’re working on it.”

“My recovery is going well. I’m over the injury and I’m fine. I hope to be ready soon, even for the Supercopa [de Espana]. I like challenges.”

Ferran Torress has previously played for Valencia from where Pep Guardiola signed him for Manchester City.

Ferran further said: “That’s an internal matter, but the most important thing is that I’m a Barcelona player now.”

“I learned a lot from him and I have very good memories from my time at City. I learned a lot.”

“I’ve always said that I wanted to return to one of Spain’s big clubs, so when Barcelona came in for me I didn’t think twice about it. It’s a great opportunity for me.”

“This is a special time for me and for my family. I’m very grateful. Now it’s time to enjoy this day with the fans and I can’t wait to play.”
