The 2022 Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles are projected to be outfitted with new next-gen AMD Ryzen chips for their MCU3 Infotainment Computer, replacing the present Intel Atom A3950 chips in prior versions, according to Teslascope (@teslascope on Twitter).
Tesla’s Model S and Model X autonomous vehicles used AMD’s RDNA2 chips for its infotainment systems earlier this year. The Navi 22, Navi 23, and Navi 24 GPUs were planned to replace the earlier Intel chips in the two Tesla versions.
TESLA claims that their infotainment system allows for up to 10 TFLOPs of processing power which is on par with current-generation consoles such as the Sony PS5. The infotainment system comes with wireless controller compatibility and lets you game from any seat. And while TESLA doesn’t mention any specs of this particular system, the hardware scene has a sense of what could be under the hood of the latest TESLA model S.
The Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles were initially intended for the European market, and in addition to being fitted with the AMD Ryzen processor for the new models, the new 2022 models are expected to include a brand-new 12V Li-ion battery. Tesla will begin shipping the Model 3 and Model Y to US customers next year.
The upgraded AMD chipset and new 12V Li-ion battery are expected to function more efficiently and effectively for consumers, while still providing a premium driving experience with the new upgrades. Elon Musk has compared the infotainment system to a PlayStation 5, claiming that it can play Cyberpunk 2077.
Tesla is proud of its central display, which provides an experience unlike any other car on the market. Their vehicles are said to be designed around the infotainment system, thus the arrival of the more efficient AMD chipset would benefit all users.
Previously, Tesla’s vehicles faced issues with the older 12V battery. According to sources, their vehicle’s battery is powered by older battery chemistry. It’s unclear whether this new battery will function better or suffer from the same problems as the prior power source.
