Hyderabad FC thrashed Odisha FC 6-1 in the ISL to close the gap to the top spot to one point. Odisha had a pretty decent first half and could have easily had 3-4 more goals to their name, and the scoreline doesn’t really do justice to the game that was played out.
Anyhow, here are the three key talking points from the dominant performance from the Nizams.
Not a happy birthday for Kamaljit Singh
The Odisha FC keeper’s 26th birthday saw him beaten six times by Hyderabad. It was the first time that the black and yellow outfit have scored six against any team in the ISL, and Kamaljit happened to be the unlucky keeper.
He was called into action several times and should have been able to prevent some of the goals conceded, especially from long range. However, it just wasn’t his day, and the opposition made sure of it.
Bart Ogbeche’s hat-trick makes him top scorer again
The Hyderabad FC striker was credited the first goal after a mess in the box led to the ball ending up in the back of the net. He scored a bullet header before halftime and completed the hat-trick with a long-range effort from the edge of the penalty box.
He has now surpassed Igor Angulo of Mumbai City FC once again and is the top scorer in the league.
Hyderabad FC blow title race wide open
The Nizams (15) are only a point behind Mumbai City FC (16) right now. After the league leaders were held to a 3-3 draw against NorthEast United, Hyderabad have stepped up to the golden opportunity and have closed the gap. They are now in contention to potentially replace the Islanders at the top of the league table.
