Valve’s Steam Deck on track for 2022 release

Valve’s Steam Deck on track for 2022 release

Valve had already announced that the Steam deck, its handheld gaming PC, would be delayed from 2021 to 2022 to meet incoming demand for an active chipset. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the only delay for the product before its release date, as Valve confirmed that the Steam Deck will still be released on time.

In a recent interview with PCGamer, developer Greg Coomer confirmed that the Stream Deck’s release will not be delayed, with the first shipment scheduled for the game’s second upcoming release. We’re still disappointed that we’ll have to move from the end of this year to the start of next. So, yeah, there are all the signs pointing to a February release,” Coomer said to PCGamer.

The Steam Deck confirms that the game will be released in February 2022 and that many customers who pre-ordered a copy will not receive it until the end of the year, as was the case earlier this year when it was reported that pre-orders would begin in July. “This is a real sale,” Coomer told PCGamer, “so many thousands of people will receive Decks rapidly to mail them.” “However, even thousands would be a drop in the bucket compared to the number we’ll film in the first few months.”

The chip scarcity had a significant impact on the Stream Deck, a popular gaming portable. The Playdate, a strange small gaming portable, was also postponed until 2022. Even though the Analogue Pocket was harmed by the chip scarcity, it has yet to receive its release date of 2021. New orders will not be shipped until next year, and the device has been stalled by $20.
