Pakistani player Mohammad Rizwan who’s a batter and a wicketkeeper, created history on 16 December by becoming the first batter to score 2000 T20 runs in a calendar year. He achieved this mark in the 3rd and final T20I against West Indies at a National Stadium in Karachi, scoring 86 runs for the team.
He plays for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Multan Sultans and the Pakistan National team. He scored 2036 runs in 48 matches and become the first player in the world to achieve this feat in a calendar year in T20 cricket.
Earlier, he was criticized for his form but yesterday he made another fifty on Thursday getting 1200+ runs for the Pakistani National team. Babar Azam who’s the skipper of the team resides in the second spot making 1767 runs in 46 matches.
He even became the first batter to cross 1000 T20I runs in one calender year during the T20I World Cup 2021 in semi-final, against Australia. He also crossed chris Gayle’s tally of 1665 runs for the most runs in a calendar year in t20 cricket during the tournament.
Pakistan had a target of 208 runs, the ream had a steady start as openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan had a partnership of 158 runs for the opening wicket. It saw both the batters cross half century. The dup is the first in the world to hit a 6th-century partnership in T20Is.
Babar Azam scored 79 and Rizwan had to depart at 86. At the halfway mark, the team’s scorecard was 98/0, though the hosts required 110 runs to win from 10 overs,. Pakistan had a seven wicket win in the end, still having seven balls left in hand.
