Robert Lewandowski could be on his way out of Bayern Munich in June 2022, if the club don’t extend his contract. The striker is out of a contract in June 2023, and he is pushing for a new deal with the German giants.
But due to Bayern’s stringent salary policy, they are finding it difficult to meet his demands. If the 33-year-old is to leave the club in the summer, a move for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland could be on the cards to replace him.
Robert Lewandowski’s replacement from Borussia Dortmund
The Norwegian has never stopped scoring since his arrival at the black and yellow club. He has scored 76 goals in 74 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions and could be a perfect replacement for Lewandowski. The Polish sensation was also signed by Dortmund, which would make Haaland a very suitable replacement on all fronts.
Bayern Munich are confident that they can sell Robert Lewandowski for around £51 million in the summer. On the other hand, Erling Haaland’s £64 million release clause comes into play in June 2022. The only question is whether or not Bayern Munich will be open to meeting his high salary demands.
How has Lewandowski’s 2021 been?
Robert Lewandowski was one of the frontrunners to win the 2021 Ballon d’Or after scoring 41 goals in one Bundesliga season. In 21/22, he has scored 29 goals across all competitions. Despite being into his 30s, he could still be a valuable addition for any club that chooses to sign him. But, if Bayern do extend his contract, he would certainly continue to put on incredible performances every week.
