England’s captain Joe Root‘s tally for the year 2021 to 1,547 at an average of 67. England finally got some good news as on the third day of the Test Gabba Joe Root joined Dawid Malan to keep Australia on their toes.

England’s skipper Joe root swept off Nathan Lyon behind him to grow in stature in Brisbane while Malan gave him good company for batting.

Joe Root scored more Test runs in a year than any other player from England, reaching the stumps on day 3 on 86 and taking his tally for 2021 to 1,541 at an average of just 67.

He broke Michael Vaughan’s record 1,481 in 2002. Pakistani player Mohammad Yousuf has the best record of 1,788 in 2006. He scored 87 runs at Adelaide in December in 2013, prior to the two games before which he was ignored by the team in his Test career. This was his 19th innings in Australia and the seventh time he crossed half-century.
