FC Goa earned their first three points this year by defeating SC East Bengal 4-3 in the ISL. Here are the three talking points from the game.
Absolute goalfest
The first half alone saw five goals scored, with Alberto Noguera’s 13th minute screamer opening the scoring. Antonio Perosevic one-upped Noguera by shooting a bullet, and his teammate, Amir Dervisevic, scored directly from a free kick in the first half alone.
Both teams showed off their remarkable attacking capabilities in the output to play out a very entertaining fixture of football for the fans.
Started from the bottom
FC Goa had to wait until their fourth game to earn their first points of the season. They did so with a win against SC East Bengal, who are now the only winless team in the league.
Jorge Ortiz scored a penalty and assisted Alberto Noguera’s double in the game, as they defeated the Red and Gold outfit. They also had an own goal from Perosevic to thank for the win. But regardless of the method, three points are all that matter at the end of the day.
Attack isn’t enough
SC East Bengal have the best attacking output of the bottom half of the table, with 8 goals scored. However, they also have the worst defensive record in the league. Against FC Goa, they could’ve easily been hit for more goals. While Odisha punished them more for their mistakes, Goa did just enough to take all three points from them.
With a leaky defence of this nature, it will be very difficult for East Bengal to finish in a respectable position.
