pTron is here with yet another audio product. This time the Indian brand has made an amazing Bluetooth speaker named pTron Musicbot Cube. It is a portable Bluetooth speaker with Alexa built-in. pTron Musicbot Cube is a Made in India product and with this product, the company is entering into a new segment of Bluetooth speakers with built-in Alexa connectivity.
We have received the black colour of the Bluetooth speaker and will be discussing its experience after a week of usage.

Design
pTron Musicbot Cube has a unique cubical design with rounded corners. The Bluetooth speaker has three microphones at the top arranged in a triangular manner and at the center of the mics, we can see the RGB LED light that blinks with different commands and pairing modes while being used.
On the front side, we can see the speaker grill and the pTron branding at the top. The sides have a smooth rubber layer that helps the speaker to stay properly in one place. The rubber texture also gives a very premium feel to the hands as well.
The backside of the portable speaker has a few buttons and ports for controls and connectivity respectively. We can also see a power indicator which is a Red LED that glows when plugged in.
Design-wise the pTron Musicbot Cube has a minimalistic design. The black and blue colours of the speaker are also built of the speaker as well.
Alexa Compatibility
We all know about Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa and this is now made available on the pTron Musicbot Cube portable Bluetooth speaker. The smart speaker is Alexa supported and can be used as a Bluetooth speaker as well. So this means you can use it as a Bluetooth speaker as well as an Alexa-enabled device.
Just ask “Alexa, play my playlist on Amazon Music”, enjoy immersive audio up to 6Hrs on a single charge & 12Hrs of Standby time. This smart speaker can also stream music from JioSaavn & Hungama.
We can also create a Smart Home by adding Alexa built-in devices like Smart bulbs or any other device to your Amazon account & use your voice to control them – “Alexa, switch on the lights”, “Alexa, play party songs”.
When you will say “Alexa” the RGB LED at the top of the speaker will glow in Blue light and until any voice command is given it will keep glowing and after that, it will stop while giving the reply. This is how the system works.
Audio
This aspect of the pTron Musicbot Cube portable speaker is shocking. The speaker is larger in size and has a decent weight with respect to its size, but the loudness of its sound is not very high. The 3W and 50mm Dynamic Speaker is pretty decent while the bass management is not up to the mark.
The highest volume of this speaker can easily boom the whole room while in an outdoor environment this sound might not be enough for some. The clarity of the sound is also up to the mark.
The bass on this speaker is the only thing that disappointed me the most. Looking at the bigger size of pTron Musicbot Cube I assumed that it will deliver more bass but I got a reality check after playing some dedicated bass boosted sounds on it at full volume.
Device Setup & Alexa Pairing
pTron Musicbot Cube has its own app that needs to be downloaded from Android or iOS’s respective app stores. This app allows you to pair and configure the pTron Musicbot Cube for the first time. So, while configuring the pTron Musicbot Cube portable Bluetooth speaker at the last step it asks for an Amazon account that needed to be linked with the device so that the Alexa can be enabled.
Then by downloading the Amazon Alexa app you can also customize the Alexa on the device as well.
The user manual will be provided with the device and so we are not discussing the setup steps here. You can find all the pictured steps mentioned in that manual. The steps to configure the device are very easy and can be done within 5 minutes.
Buttons & Ports
At the backside of the pTron Bassbuds Cube we can find 5 buttons. These buttons and their positions are,
- Power button: Middle
- Volume Up: Top
- Volume Dowm: Bottom
- Wifi connectivity: Right
- Bluetooth / Mic Mute: Left
These are the ports and their functions,
- Micro USB: For charging and keeping it connected via main line (Recommended).
- Red LED: Indicates the power input fom micro USB cable.
- Mic
- 3.5mm jack: It helps to connect a device with the speaker via a 3.5mm AUX cable.
Connectivity
The pTron Musicbot Cube can be used as an Alexa-enabled device and a normal Bluetooth speaker as well. The 3.5mm audio jack also can be connected to a device to get its audio output as well.
Moreover, the portable Bluetooth speaker can also be played wirelessly for up to 4 hours straight at medium volume. The battery backup for such a big device needed to be a bit more but it helps.

Verdict
Keeping in mind the price of this device we can say that pTron Musicbot Cube is one of the best portable speakers with Alexa compatibility at this range. It is priced at just ₹1,799 on Amazon and at this price point, no other device in India offers Alexa support on the portable Bluetooth speaker.
So after using this device for more than 10 days I can say that pTron Musicbot Cube is worth the money. It is a good option if you are looking for a smart speaker at this price or even a good Bluetooth speaker because it gives you the best Alexa experience along with good audio. You can also control your smart home appliances via this speaker.
