Barcelona midfielder Pedri will be out for the remainder of the year. The team will be hoping for him to return in January 2022. A number of setbacks have delayed his return to the first team. And according to AS, the team will now take caution regarding his situation and will ease him back into action.
Pedri played an unbelievable 73 games last season, and the number of games seem to have taken their toll on him right now.
The teenager lifted the Copa del Rey with Barcelona in April. He was then called up to Luis Enrique’s Spain squad for Euro 2020, and was named the Young Player of the Tournament, and played in all of Spain’s matches in the competition.
Thereafter, he travelled to Tokyo to compete in the Olympics with Spain, and won the silver medal. He returned to training only five days after the finals of the Olympics against Brazil, and has only played four games across all competitions this season.
Since September, Pedri has been struggling with a thigh issue. The Golden Boy is a key part of the team, and provides a spark going forward whenever he is deployed. Xavi has not yet had the chance to start the midfielder, due to his unavailability.
But with such an iconic midfielder in charge, we can only assume that Pedri will go on to be one of the best in his position in the world, given his progress so far.
