Resident Evil 2020 remake has reportedly sold over 3.9 million copies till march 2021

The 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 has turned out to be pretty great and Capcom is pretty pleased about how the game has been received by the users.

Capcom has called the game along with its Monster Hunter Rise, a “hit” in its annual report which the studio published yesterday. The developer has also released the number of copies which the game has sold and it is an astounding 3.9 million units.

The number of copies that the remake has sold is more than the game’s original incarnation, 1999’s Resident Evil 3. Capcom attributes the remake’s success to its digital sales strategy, and a remake of the 1999 title has probably sold a few more than that, as that 3.9 million number comes from March 31 of this year, so by now, the numbers are quite high.

The gaming industry always hides its sales numbers whenever possible, and when Capcom is releasing its annual report is always a nice change of pace.

Capcom also included an update on its sales numbers for several new games, such as Resident Evil Village reaching 4.5 million units sold.

The developer has stated that its publisher-described hit of the year, Monster Hunter Rise, which reached 4.8 million. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has reportedly sold 2.4 million in the last fiscal year alone, on top of 5.2 million last fiscal year, not including sales of Monster Hunter World before Iceborne.

  • “Supercop” Jill Valentine is back battling the undead in the new remake of Capcom’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Capcom also reported that The Mega Man games have altogether sold a total of 36 million copies as of March 31, 2021. The Resident Evil series is at 110 million, Monster Hunter is at 72 million, and Street Fighter has sold 46 million.
